Stella the Coffee Table

Sale Price:$480.00 Original Price:$550.00
sale

Stella balanced on her side at the back of the rectory, under a dusty velvet cloth against the cold tile floor. The organ music tickled her when Mr O’Malley practiced, but it did little to disturb the monotonous chill that tightened her joints and held her captive. She dreamed of sunshine, palm trees and warm golden sands. And it would have stayed that way for the rest of time had Mrs Cronin not dropped a coin and had to rummage around on the floor. As her inquisitive fingers scampered in the dust, Mrs Cronin inadvertently brushed aside the cloth that had hidden Stella for so long. That evening, when the sun had fallen behind the western hills, the darkness revealed a clear night sky. A star shone brightly, directing its magical light through the mullioned window and onto Stella for the first time. Very quietly, a gold star spread across her beautiful wood. She rose, passing through the thick stone walls as smoothly as a ghost. Up and away she flew, dragging the greens of the fields with her like a silk skirt. Over the turbulent Atlantic sea she floated, over the glittering lights of the American East coast and the quiet plains. Then, as softly as she had risen, the starlight gently set her down in San Francisco where the sun was already warming the hills and the dream of California was real.

Octagonal wooden table with eight legs, high gloss green and gold details.
